Missions

MISSIONARY GROUP ONE shares opportunities to serve our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ by assisting people with offerings and visitations. Their outreach mission includes anyone in the community as well as members of Temple Memorial with health concerns, bereavement or financial needs. Theirs is the gift of Exhortation and Mercy.

Myrtle Williams, President


MISSIONARY GROUP TWO aids "The Carpenter's House" (a safe haven for victims of domestic violence) and works to educate the community about the ill effects of domestic violence. The group provides monetary support to help with residents' daily needs while in the shelter and one specific gift when residents leave the shelter to begin housekeeping on their own. The group sponsors a clothing drive in the Spring and Fall and provides school supplies and gifts for women and children on major holidays. Their gift is Giving.

Arlene Byers, President


MISSIONARY GROUP THREE has adopted Fairview Elementary School. The group provides school supplies, materials for special events, activities and holidays. Recently, they provided books, educational supplies and helped to establish a library for inmates in an Anson County prison. SERVICE is the groups' gift.

Leslie Dean, President


MISSIONARY GROUP FOUR visits and supports the Central Children's Home of Oxford, North Carolina. Group Four provides the residents with school supplies, bath linen, winter wear and toiletries. They also send cards and write letters regularly to the residents. Annually, they sponsor the Presidents' trip to Temple Memorial. This group's gift is GIVING AND MERCY.

Fannie James, President


MISSIONARY GROUP FIVE provides services to the Open Door Shelter. Each month, they prepare and serve a meal for the men and those served at the homeless shelter. While there, they share their faith and words of encouragement. Group Five shares the gift of HOSPITALITY.

Mildred Cowans, President


MISSIONS GROUP SIX assists persons living with HIV and AIDS. They participate in the annual walks for the. cause as well as provide financial assistance and support for HIV/AIDS victims and their families. MERCY is the group's gift.

Linda Quick, President


THE YOUNG ADULT MISSIONARY GROUP supports the efforts of the Guilford County DSS Foster Care Unit. They provide respite child care services for foster parents to allow them time to take care of personal and family needs. They assist foster children and parents as specific needs arise. Their gift is SERVICE.

Melissa Nelson, President


YOUTH MISSIONARIES consist of young children and youth (boys and girls) learning about the call and cause of missions. They have committed to assisting residents of area assisted living facilities and foreign missions efforts supported by the youth component of the Loft Carey Foreign Missions Convention. They have made visitations and sponsored an ice cream party for residents locally. Foreign mission projects have included aid to Haitian youth in refugee camps in Florida and youth effected by natural disasters and devastation. The Youth Missionaries' gift is MERCY.
